PRAYER WARRIORS & PROJECT SUPPORTERS
PAGE
Please read this incredibly powerful
promise:
"God IS ABLE to
make ALL GRACE
ABOUND toward you;
that ye, ALWAYS having ALL sufficiency
in ALL things,
may ABOUND to EVERY good work." 2Corinthians
9:8
What a promise! If you or I want to help others,
then "my God shall supply ALL your needs according to His
riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians
4:19. As long as we fulfil the conditions of His word, then every
need will be supplied! As someone once said, "Prayer is the key in the hand of faith that unlocks Heaven's
storehouse." Question: How big is "Heaven's storehouse" and what does it
contain (or not contain?!)
We would like to invite you to become part of
the Vanuatu Project by praying for some specific needs (Click Here to View Our
Needs Page). In your prayers, please dont be afraid to be very
specific in your requests to God, and then to claim God's everlasting
promises for the spread of His kingdom of grace on the earth.
Jesus
said, "If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any
thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my
Father which is in heaven." Matthew 18:19 By praying for these needs, you
are assisting this project in a very real way. In serving and in sharing our
lives with others, we desire to become a channel of God's grace. And so as you
pray with and for us, you also will become a channel for the
outflowing of God's unfathomable grace...
We believe we should think big-because
God's work is big...but we also believe we should be
faithful in the things that are small. Some of our requests for prayer
are small requests that, although small, would make a significant or
important difference in our effectiveness in reaching others. But some
of our requests for prayer are big requests that we present
cautiously but courageously and hopefully to God in faith, and with a
desire that His name may be glorified. If it shall bring honor to Him, we ask
that big things shall happen for His name's sake, and for the
furtherance of His kingdom. Time is short, and the work ahead of us is
bigger than the work behind us...Maranatha! The Lord is coming again very
soon.
1-2-3: A Spectacular Answer to
Prayer
"Lord if You answer this prayer, as we believe You will, we
pledge to share the story with others." The Lord did answer the prayers, and
here is the story:
Time to Go Forward
In 2004 we were in the US at Uchee Pines Institute,
Alabama-getting training in natural remedies & Lifestyle Medicine. We were
short of cash but needing to make a move to return to Australia via South
Africa, where I was to get some training in missionary surgery at Maluti
Adventist Hospital, Lesotho.
At this time we were pressed for cash but felt the Lord was
testing our faith. We felt we needed to make the step to purchase air tickets on
credit, and trust the Lord to provide as we moved forwards in faith.
A Basis for our Faith
In searching the Scriptures for promises on which to base our faith, we
found this statement:
"Bring ye all the tithes
into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house,
and prove Me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of
heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that
there shall not be room enough to receive it."
Malachi 3:10
This promise seemed to fit our needs. We needed God to
open the windows of Heaven and pour out upon us just some of His many blessings.
If He poured out just enough for our needs, it would suffice. Yet He had
promised to give us more than we could receive, let alone use!
The Condition of His Promise
So we claimed this promise, but we noted the condition:
PAY TITHE.
Simple. So we did it. We calculated what we needed to pay for
the tickets, and calculated what was tithe (10%) of our need, and
decided to do two things:
1/Book the tickets
2/Pay the tithe the following Sabbath.
Step 1: An Experiment in Faith-to Prove the Lord's
Faithfulness
We got a little excited about this experiment in faith. We
felt like we were about to prove the Lord's faithfulness. We were not
afraid to lose in this experiment. The possibility of gaining an experience in
faith seemed to easily justify the risk involved.
So we booked the tickets by email, and on Friday night we
gathered together cash to the value of US$600, which was 10% of what we needed.
We put the $600 in an envelope, and wrote Malachi 3:10 on the back of
the envelope. On Sabbath, we gave this tithe to the Lord.
What happened after Sabbath
After Sabbath, we checked our email. We were elated to
discover that a recent patient at Uchee Pines had decided to send us
$600. She had emailed us Friday night (about the time we put our
$600 tithe in the envelope and claimed Malachi 3:10) to inform us of her
decision to help us. Surely it was no coincidence that she pledged $600!
The Evidence of His faithfulness
We felt that God was speaking to us, reassuring us that He
was with us, and that He would provide. We had lost nothing by risking $600. Now
we had only to wait to see the Lord provide the remaining 90% of our
needs.
Within about 6 weeks, the Lord had impressed a variety of
people to help us out, and to provide the remaining 90%. Our tickets were paid
for, and we were on our way.
A Decision to Risk & Utilize our
Assets
About this time we became increasingly aware of the fact that
God requires us to use all our assets, opportunities and advantages for
His glory. We analyzed carefully the possessions we owned and wondered if there
was some way we could use the small & inexpensive home and
property which we own in Australia for the progress of God's work. We
didnt want to sell it, as we felt it would be useful as a mission base for the
anticipated work we would be doing in the Pacific (Vanuatu). But we were willing
to risk taking out a loan with the property as security, in order to advance the
Lord's work-and we were willing to lose the property as a result of an unpayable
loan-as long as our assets would be invested in the progress of God's work. So
this led to the next step of faith...
Step 2
Now that we had evidence that God had certainly provided for
our needs, we found ourselves in South Africa, where the Lord gave me incredible
experiences in surgical training. We felt that God's faithfulness had to be
proved again. This time, we knew that God would test us on something much
bigger. And that is exactly what happened.
South Africa is an excellent place to get a pilot's
license-in that the flying standards are internationally recognized, yet the
cost is relatively low. I had been impressed that I should get my pilot's
license for a long time. I felt it would give me wings as a missionary to do
much more and reach a wider sphere than if I didnt have one. I felt that it
would perfectly complement my interest in medical missionary work, and would be
especially useful in Melanesia and other areas of the South Pacific-our
dedicated mission field. Now the opportunity presented itself-through the eyes
of faith.
Another step of faith
Again, we had very little money. But God had
provided for Step 1 in the experiment. So we decided to take another risk. This
time we needed a much larger amount of money, and we went forward once again,
spending on credit and asking the Lord earnestly to provide. But before
starting, again we calculated 10% of our need and paid it in advance as
tithe.
This time we were a little scared of the whole venture. We
realized that our only valuable asset-our small home in Australia, would be in
jeopardy if we could not pay off the debt. If we were unable to repay our
loan, the property would have to be sold. But we took heart, deciding that
if we were to lose our home for the advancement of the Lord's work, then so be
it. The risk seemed small compared to the possibility of being blessed by
God.
God's Presence with us
I took the training, and got my pilot's license. What a
blessing it was to go through that experience! The Lord especially blessed
my flying skills and I was told I learned to fly unusually quickly,
and was quickly at home in an airplane. I went solo very early and completed the
course rapidly. I give God the credit for this. I felt that God's presence was
with me, and that He was blessing me.
The Burden of Heavy Debt
Nevertheless, months went by and we returned to Australia in
mid 2005. Still we were in debt-heavily. We realized that the time was
approaching when we would probably have to sell our small home to pay off our
debt. But again and again we pled with God. We asked Him if we had gone into
debt presumptiously in order to get my pilot's license. We asked for
forgiveness if we had rushed ahead of Him and brought dishonor upon His name.
But then we remembered Step 1. God had proved His faithfulness with Step 1 of
the experiment. The problem now was the enormity of the money involved-it
approached $20,000. Yet in spite of the burden of debt upon us, we accepted the
fact that our property must be sold.
A Promise of Help
It was while we were carrying our heavy burden of
debt and still wondering if God was going to help us, that something
amazing happened. While I was sick-very sick with a fever, we were forced to
stay with a friend. Learning of our situation, our friend pledged to help us get
out of debt, on condition that the money became available to them. Time
lingered, and it seemed that for weeks and weeks, our friend was be unable to
pay, in spite of a desire to help us. Again we submitted ourselves to the
fact that our property must be sold.
The Decision to Go Forward
About this time, we were making final moves to come to
Vanuatu to start the Vanuatu Project. Time was running out, and we made the
decision to prepare the property to sell up. We calculated the time we could
survive financially without selling, and presented our situation to the Lord in
faith. We wanted to hold onto the property as long as possible, but if forced
to, we were truly prepared to sell it. We gave the property to the
Lord, asking Him to take it or to leave it as He saw fit. The last days of our
time in Australia were passing. At last, 2 days before we were to
leave Australia for Vanuatu, we got a phone call from our friend. The money
had appeared, and our friend immediately transferred $25,000 in our bank
account-enough to pay the debt, and provide us with a starting point for the
next step of faith! The thrill of answered prayer elated us, and over and over
we had to ask ourselves if we were imagining it, or if God has actually answered
our prayer!
Wings for God
Transportation is a formidable problem in the South Pacific.
Travel by water has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages,
difficulties and dangers. We feel impressed that God has given us the
opportunity, the desire and the vision to be involved in low cost medical
aviation in the South Pacific. Medical aviation as it is normally conducted,
with its emphasis on patient retrieval can be very expensive, whereas a doctor
who is able to fly himself to areas of need can accomplish more on a smaller
budget. In combination with the spreading of the gospel, and with the
presentation of the three angel's messages, we feel that our work is just
waiting to be done...

Step 3-waiting to happen!
Here we are, working as volunteer missionaries in Vanuatu. We
need a plane-our biggest prayer request. Other needs are important, but this is
the "big one". We seem to know that God has a step 3 for us. We know that it is
the airplane. We know the risk on this one will be bigger than before. We know
it will stretch our faith even more. We are waiting the right time. But we
know what the Lord has done, and surely, surely it
is our duty to have faith in His faithfulness! Our decision has been made, and again we know the
procedure-calculate the tithe on what we need, give it to God, then risk all
assets in faith to go forward. Leave no stone unturned. Risk all for
God.
Pray for us-and for you
This story is written that you also may believe. We are about
to embark on Step 3. Our faith has been stretched, but strengthened. We know
that God is faithful, that He is well able to keep His word. We ask you to pray
for us as we head for Step 3-and what about you? Maybe you are at step 5 or 6.
Or are you waiting to start your own experiment in faith with God? We
plead with you. Go ahead-give it a try:
"...Prove Me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts,
if I will not open you the windows of
heaven,
and pour you out a blessing, that
there shall not be room enough to receive
it!"
A Faith Experiment in
Advance
Tithing
By Mark Turnbull
Tithing
Many Christians understand the basic concept of paying a
tithe of one's increase. The principle is this: we recognize that God
supplies our needs, and so we return a tithe (1/10th) of our
income to God for the support of the ministry of the word.
Tithing is not exactly a commonly discussed topic.
Indeed, statistics indicate that tithing is being practiced less and less
as time passes. People may be willing to support worthy projects from time to
time, but giving a whole 10% of one's income often seems like a tough deal.
Fewer and fewer people do it, and the result is a lack of means in the church
treasury. The support of the ministry of the word suffers, and the gospel is not
preached as it should be. Discouragement settles upon the work of God because of
man's criminal selfishness.
The Promise
"Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed
Me.
But ye say, 'Wherein have we robbed Thee?'
In tithes and offerings.
Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed Me,
even this whole nation.
Bring ye all the tithes into the
storehouse,
that there may be meat in Mine house, and
prove Me now herewith, saith the LORD of
hosts,
if I will not open you the windows
of heaven, and pour you out a blessing,
that
there shall not be room enough to receive
it."
Malachi 3:8-10
Get this, God has lots of blessings in His room in
Heaven. If we fulfil the conditions, He is both willing and able to open His
windows, and the blessings will start falling out of heaven. You will receive
more than you can handle. Question: Do you believe this?
A Genuine Business Transaction
Lets get into the mind of a businessman for a moment. What we
need to understand is the incredible business transaction which God is
willing to get involved in. He gives 100%, and we return 10%. We may claim
that we earned 100% and that we gave God 10% of what belongs to us. But God
claims to have given us the 100% as a gift. It is His, and He is the rightful
owner of it. Therefore the 10% we return is actually His. But even if the
10% was truly ours, just think of the business transaction we are involved
in:
|
Who Gives? |
Percentage |
Net
Gain/Loss |
|
God Gives to Us |
100% |
God loses 90% (Actually
100%) |
|
We Give to God |
10% |
We gain 90% (Actually
100%) |
What business or financial institution could offer you a
better return than this? It sounds almost too good to be true! We are
talking about a 900% (actually 1000% plus) return on what we give to God!
Does that sound like a good investment? Any shrewd businessman who really
believes God's word ought be astounded at the thought.
Investment in God's Cause is 100% Safe and
Prosperous
God has promised to multiply what we add to His work. We work
on the plan of addition, and God works on the plan of multiplication. Banks will
inevitably fail, stock markets are unpredictable, property ownership is insecure
in comparison. A safer investment can never be found than God's cause. God calls
to a business-minded generation in the last days and says:
"Thou sayest, 'I am rich, and
increased with goods, and have need of nothing'; [implied: You think you are
good with money]
and knowest not that thou art wretched,
and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: [implied: You are not
making good financial choices]
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the
fire, that thou mayest be rich..." [implied: You should secure a better
investment]
Revelation 3:17,18
God knows that our approach to worldly business is not safe.
In the end, the devil will steal it all away. So why should we not put our
money where our mouths are, and spend it on the bread of life for hungering
souls? God calls to reason with Him about this, and become more shrewd
by acting on what we claim to believe. The difference between a
good Christian businessman and a shrewd worldly businessman is His God. One
serves himself and his posessions, and the other serves His Creator and the
cause of His Master in spreading light into every dark place in
the earth. A good businessman uses every opportunity he has to invest all
he has where he can secure the biggest returns. And a truly converted
Christian businessman recognizes that God's work is the best place to do
that.
Question: Has anyone ever suffered poverty
or lack as a result of investment in God's work? Read Malachi 3:8-10
again.
Excuses Abound for Witholding
Tithe
Many excuse themselves from faithful tithe-paying. Excuses
abound:
-
Some offer the lame excuse that many ministers who are
paid from the tithe are unfaithful. God knows that this is an excuse to
selfishly withold tithe from the many ministers who are faithful.
And often the most faithful ministers suffer
the most.
-
Some claim that they cannot afford to pay a full 10%
(before tax). In reality they do not believe that God will take care of their
needs.
-
Some desire to have more control on how the tithe is spent.
In reality they do not believe that God is able to take care of His
work.
-
A true tithe payer pays his tithe to God, and not man. He
pays the tithe because of God's faithfulness, not because of man's
faithfulness. He invests in God's cause and expects God to keep his promises;
he does give in proportion to how man keeps his promises.
-
What excuse do you use for witholding God's tithe? What
selfishness is blocking God's amazing graciousness from being lavished upon
your life?
Question: Is it possible to out-give the
Lord? Can you ever give Him more than He can give you? So wherein lies the
problem?
What is Advance-Tithing?
I have experimented with what I call 'advance' tithing, which
is paying tithe on a particular need, before that need has even
been supplied. This goes a step further than paying tithe on one's
increase. It involves paying tithe on increases you need, but do not yet
have. This has been a most amazing experience for us.
So how do I advance tithe? It goes like this:
-
Calculate what is your particular need (for God's
work)-this represents 100%
-
Calculate a tithe of your need-this is 10% of the
above
-
Pay this 10% as tithe for the support of the ministry
of the word (mark it as 'tithe' in the offering, and give it to
God)
-
Sounds too simple? Prepare yourself for truly incredible
blessings that are sure to follow!
Conditions of the Promise
The tithe promise is part of a collection of promises with
conditions attached. In order to receive the blessings we are promised,
all conditions must be met. It is a package deal. But
the conditions are reasonable:

1Timothy 6:17,18 |

We must ask according to His

verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name,
He will give it
you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name:

Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen
you,

bring forth fruit,
and that your fruit should
remain:
that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father
in My name,
He may give it you.

and to him that knocketh it shall be
opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his
son ask bread,
will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish,
will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil,
know how to give good gifts unto your
children,
how much more shall your Father
which is in heaven
give good things to them
that ask him? |

Ask God at the right time
God has a timetable for
everything |
Zechariah 10:1 |
Ask ye of the

Dont waver |
James 1:5-7 |
If any of you lack wisdom,
let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith,
nothing wavering.
For he that wavereth is like a wave of the
sea
driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think
that he shall receive any thing of the
Lord. |
|
Believe that God hears you
and thank God that He has heard
you
and for blessing you |
Mark 11:24 |
Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe
that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them.

Experiments of Faith
The word "prove" in Malachi 3:10 implies an experiment. To
prove something, you must document what you did, and what the results were. We
have decided to prove the Lord's faithfulness in 'Advance Tithing' on 3
occassions. Here are the results of our experiments:
|
Experiment
Number |
Our Need |
What we
did |
Result |
|
1 |
US$6000 for airfares from Atlanta, Georgia
to Australia via South Africa |
We paid US$600 'Advance
Tithe' |
Day 1: God impressed an
expatient of ours to donate us $600
THIS HAPPENED ON THE SAME DAY!
Within 2 months: Donations to the value of
$6000 covered our airfares |
|
2 |
Australian $18,000 needed to cover debt
accumulated
while getting surgical training in South
Africa
and while getting a pilot's
license
Note: Our property, worth more than
$20,000
was used as a surety for the
loan.
We do not recommend going into true "red"
debt
with no assets to cover such a
debt |
We paid Australian $1800
in 'Advance Tithe' |
Within 12 months, someone was impressed to
donate
sufficient funds to cover the
debt
thus freeing us from the need to sell our
property |
|
3 |
We currently have a need of approximately
Australian $100,000
for our aircraft project |
Because we did not have sufficient
funds
to pay a full 'Advance Tithe'
(ie $10,000)
We paid as much as we
could... |
Within 7 days God poured upon
us
a multitude of blessings
not related to the aircraft.
The story is still in
progress....
Please return to this page.
In His timing, God will answer
this prayer also. |
An Appeal
Friend, God has PROVED HIS FAITHFULNESS to us over and over
and over. Every day evidence of His faithfulness is
gathering... I promised that I would tell others if He answered our prayers
for help. And He did. So I am sharing this very personal experience with you.
I have written these things that you also may believe. Our God is such a
wonderful God! His grace is sufficient for every need-especially our
need to do His work. (2Corinthians 9:8). Get your feet wet.
Get involved in His work, and your needs will be
supplied. His promises stand sure, and His superabundant
graciousness will remain steadfast unto all generations....
So..."Let us hold fast the profession of
our faith without wavering
for He is faithful that
promised."
Hebrews 10:23
|
Would you like to
help...?
God
has entrusted to us so many advantages and
opportunities! We feel the time has come to use all of
them to push His work forward!
If, after prayerful
consideration, you also feel impressed to help out in
some way with this project,
then for your own
benefit, we encourage you to decide now
to run the risk of being richly
blessed!
We have found that the spirit
of generosity brings about a 'reflex blessing' on the giver,
and we want you to experience
this, just as we have-so we can all become part of the channel of
God's grace & blessing together!
Why not claim Luke
6:38, take the risk, and see what might happen to
you?
